I don't get it. Street signs don't say "zen" to me. It took me a few seconds to get oriented. The underexposed subject kind of bugs me, though I realize that you were probably going for a silhouette.

In some ways, the simplicity of this image, with basically two tones and only a few items in the frame, is zen like. The main thing I think that works against it is the fact that this is composed with slightly oblique lines, rather than parallel lines to the frame. This could have easily been addressed in the field, or later in post processing. Obliques denote tension and instability, concepts that are at odds with the idea of "zen" IMHO.

Because of the sign and metal structure holding it, this doesn't give me a zen feel at all. I like this though. The black and white it great and the bird is a great point of interest.
