I wish I understood what I was looking at..some sort of ceremony set up? is that a candle, that orange glob? aside from not knowing what this is.... I like the feel of it.... but those hot spots are distracting.

Hi, Ana,

it's a simple composition, nothing special or hidden meaning. In front it's a soap containiong real tangerine pieces. The soap is on a glass asthray. In the bgr it's a glass with some dried orange slices. In between it's a simple necklace. the whole compo is set on a fake marble bathroom counter.
I had nothing in mind with this other than the compo itself, some sort of still life I guess.

The hot spots... Yes, they are there, no denying. And this is far better than the original, belive me... But that was the best I could do with it... (They are the bathroom mirror spotlights, by the way)

I guess reality once again proves to be much more uninspiring than imagination, right? :(

I don't get it and it kind of freaks me out, none the less I think its a strong composition and solid technique was used for effect.

You're just too smart for the rest of us. :)

Not sure about the selective coloring. The orange is too bold to be zen, in my opinion. Great concept though.

Thax for the huge pile of comments :)

It has one of the lowest ratings I ever got which frankly surprises me - not because I think it's a good one, but because I think it is one of MY better ones :) The relevance and impact rates were especially low, both (well) under 3 - which roughly translates as "you made yet another boring and irrelevant submission" - seems to be my motto here :))) (Or rather :( )

I'm seriously thinking I misunderstood the theme concept - I got under 3 for relevance. That means I better stop rating others pix until I get a better hold of what to look for in them...

beckn, the selective saturation is not because of the theme, it's (of course) an earlier compo I've made and then I had this concept. And, since it was shot with color selection, there is not full color version :( But you're right, it doesn't make this one a stronger candidate here :(
