In the center? It's the fence. You can see all the way through my head to the fence behind me. Really.

Oooh, arty! Nice work.
Jay said 566 days ago:
Striking, but at a loss how to score it...!
King said 566 days ago:
Jay,
I sympathize, but give me credit for one physical door and window and one metaphorical door and window. Did it make you smile?
May I suggest straight fours?
pursang said 566 days ago:
aces
pursang said 566 days ago:
figures, had i known it was you, i would have said that there's too much in the attic!
pursang said 566 days ago:
are you wearing eye makeup?
King said 566 days ago:
Hi, pusang. Good to see you back.
No eye makeup this time. I wanted to contribute something different and had this shot in mind before the theme was posted.
Did you see George's photo of me in the previous theme? It was posed just for you. I posted a shot of George as well.

I thought the eyes were meant to be the windows...

I wish there was something to see inside. Ha!Ha! (joke).

Great stuff. Experimental. A window to the mind, a door to the soul. You get nothing less than 5s from me.
pursang said 566 days ago:
Hey King, I have not seen the image, but will check it out. I've been involved in two HUGE photo projects, so I have not been that active here. Nice image. I like it when I see people experiment beyond the norm.
King said 566 days ago:
psychodudu and pursang,
I don't consider this image to be experimental. It's conceptual, yes, but it's a basic advertising-style photo. I knew before I started putting this together how I was going to do it and how it was going to look.
Thanks folks, for all the comments.
Jay said 566 days ago:
Hell - while you're at it why not suggest straight fives? You never know, I might be the kind that just blindly follows instruction heheh
;)
Yes, it did make me smile - and think - and stop a while. The scoring reflected that...

This is very cool. I love the colors.

This is an example of an image the polarizes raters. Some really like it (probably those more likely to comment) and some dislike it very much.
FYI for those interested in the ratings phenomenon (with 15 ratings):
* Relevance: 3.13
* Impact: 3.13
* Composition: 3.07
* Technique: 3.13
* Quality: 3.33
* Overall: 3.158

Jay,
I was just pulling your leg, but why would I post this if I didn't think it was worthy?...no, wait a minute...I'm one of the folks most likely to post an unworthy image:

http://www.weeklyshot.org/theme/negative-space/response/88/
http://www.weeklyshot.org/theme/alone/response/98/ (got lucky on this one)

Thanks to all who took the time to leave comments, and especially to those who found some merit in this distinctively different (IMHO) contribution to the theme--although not the only one.

"Being King", I presume.
Flatline said 565 days ago:
Excellent. Good job getting the shadows right behind the shutters.
CraigMartin said 565 days ago:
Wow, in all those comments, no one mentioned the similarity between the shot and the poster for "Being John Malkovich". You can check it out here:

psychodudu said 565 days ago:
@ King - It's experimental, don't split hairs. You are also the one most likely to push the envelope that's for sure...lol. Did u try eyes open?
@ CraigMartin - What r u talkin about? I see no resemblance whatsoever.
King said 565 days ago:
psychodudu,
Okay, define "experimental." I'm not arguing--I just want to know what you mean by your use of the term.
I wanted to be looking up, but my eyes are sensitive to bright light and I couldn't do it while staring into the sun.
Thanks for the comments!
zorilla said 565 days ago:
Ambrose Bierce defined a king as "a male person commonly known in America as a "crowned head", although he never wears a crown and has usually no head to speak of."
psychodudu said 565 days ago:
@ King - Well it's all about how you look at it, 'ain't it? I say it's experimental because you using us as your test subjects. I say it's experimental because it's not been tried here before. I say it's experimental, because what you say is conceptual just another word, and at the end of the die, what the heck are we arguing over 2 words for. Go ahead if you want to win your war of words, who gives a hoot? What "concept" are you conveying, and why can it not be called experimental. Here's another word for you....SEMANTIC.
psychodudu said 565 days ago:
Should be "you're using" not "you using", and "end of the day" not "end of the die"...grrr
King said 565 days ago:
Andrew--how clearly do I have to state it? I'm not wanting an argument. I just wanted you to describe what you meant by the word "experimental" because it doesn't fit my meaning. That's all. I'm interested in words and how people use them.
Peace, Your Dudeness.

Terrific. Super. I love it. And I wish I had your photoshop skills.
King said 560 days ago:
George,
Thanks...and I shot the curtains especially for this composite image.
mtmartini said 560 days ago:
King, I understand what you mean about the whole concept/experiment misunderstanding. If this were mine I would call it a concept, while I might have experimented along the way with the lighting and different photoshop techniques, the final product is still a concept. BTW, all 3 of your shots were wonderfully entertaining. :)

Thanks, Tracy. You did well yourself. Your number 165 is very beautiful.
