Great submission and such a rich image.

kadenajack said 566 days ago:

This is such a great looking car, I just wish you hadn't cropped so much of it out.

George said 566 days ago:

Mark, thanks for the comment :-)

George said 566 days ago:

Jack, I see what you mean, but to me too much of the car might have become more about the car and less about the door. Plus, there were other objects around (i.e. other cars, etc) which I didn't want in the frame. At any rate, thanks for the comment.

Good idea, unusual composition! lots of points from me!

mtmartini said 565 days ago:

What a great color! Excellent shot, 25.

mtmartini said 565 days ago:

I love the crop and agree that any more of the car might have changed the focus. ;)

King said 565 days ago:

Well, George, I was wondering when you would show up on the front page. Someday, if I'm good, I will own that car.

agme said 565 days ago:

i'd cut off the down

George said 565 days ago:

Thanks to All for the ratings and comments :-)

@agme: I'm not sure what you mean.

Flatline said 565 days ago:

Arrgh.... ok, nice colors, nice subject, nice take on the theme - there' a door and a window, BUT: I can't get over the composition. This is a beautiful car, but I wish you would have done more to capture the lines of it. The way the lines flow from the windshield and the back are cut off indiscriminantly, the roof is excluded, and the little front quarter-window is unframed. There's no shine in the paint, and the chrome looks dead. You're a great photographer, but on this one you've broken my car-guy heart. Low on Composition, low on technique.

George said 565 days ago:

Flatline, I love you. Keep on telling it like it is, buddy :-)

Flatline said 565 days ago:

I'm clicking through Lowrider Customs hompage right now, as part of my recuperative treatment...

George said 565 days ago:

Ha. Too funny. Thanks for the laugh. My only solace is that not everyone agrees with your assessment :-)

JIMJIM said 565 days ago:

Congrats on your feature George !! This remarkable !!! Impossible to shoot something like this in France, no way ;-)))

philippe said 564 days ago:

Good idea, great car, and I love the unusual composition too. For me, it makes the shot.

George said 564 days ago:

Thanks philippe. I'm glad the composition works for you.

I don't doubt the composition could be improved, but to me it achieves a couple of things: the obvious one is it makes the door the main subject of the image; the other is that there's some kind of tension (as much as an image of this kind can elicit) created by the fact that the only elements of the vehicle that are completely visible are the door handle and lock. The windows, the wheel, the panels, even the door itself are truncated. I like the tension from that truncation. Then again, it is my shot so I'm sure to be able to see all kinds of things into the photo :-)

P.S. Here's another shot of the same car: http://www.jargonhunter.com/images/daily/0107_articles/January312007.html

I am on the "like the crop" bandwagon- completely works- IMHO thats what makes this shot so sharp.

George said 564 days ago:

kyla, you're a charm. now if you'd be so kind as to notify Flatline (iron_flatline@yahoo.com) of how wrong he is and how right you are, well, you'll be tops on my list. oh, and ask him why he's having Sauvignon Blanc with Tilapia? A fish like that goes best with a soft red wine with low tannins. Oregon pinot noirs are an excellent choice, but any pinot would be nice.

apoc said 564 days ago:

i like the crop although i wish the horizontal lines were parallel to the borders of the photo. its a great photo nonetheless.

kyla said 563 days ago:

I love Oregon Pinot Noirs of course I love a good Sauvignon Blanc also- six months up the duff I would be happy with a glass of either! and feel free to throw in the Tilapia while you're at it!

King said 563 days ago:

Kyla,
Qu'est-ce que "up the duff"?

kyla said 563 days ago:

up the pole...duff...or in plain english preggers.

George said 563 days ago:

kyla, all the best with the preggy-ness! is this kiddo numero uno?

kyla said 562 days ago:

yes child n#1 so I have an abundance of sleepness nights and worry ahead but could not be happier!
Thanks for the well wishes.

King said 562 days ago:

kyla,
Ah, so you're female. I was thinking "Kyla" was some nordic fisherman-like name, like Nynke.

I think pregnant women are among the most beautiful creatures on the planet. Best of luck to you.
