La vie en rose !

Ana said 692 days ago:

Well, this is certainly eye catching....hope that was easy to clean up!

King said 692 days ago:

My neighborhood is neither photogenic nor safe. I envy you folks who life where handsome windows and doors abound. Around here, its homely widows and whores.

JIMJIM said 691 days ago:

Is this Mr Black (the dead man) trying to get out of Mr Pink's house by the window ??
Really, he did ? Ohhh !!!
;-))

philippe said 691 days ago:

These unreal colors are great and fit the weirdness of the scene.

King said 691 days ago:

Am I the *only* person who thinks this is funny?

philippe said 691 days ago:

No, you're not.

philippe said 691 days ago:

Of course, one could argue it doesn't really fit the theme...

JIMJIM said 691 days ago:

No, I like the colors too ;-))

King said 691 days ago:

philippe,
The theme is doors and windows. Both of my images submitted so far have had each, so at least I am following the damned RULES!

however, there is nothing I can contribute that will get featured in this theme, so I am having fun, instead.

Thanks for the comments, everyone.

King said 691 days ago:

...and a whole pint of my blood wasted. Why do I even bother?

philippe said 691 days ago:

Would you seriously say the focus is on windows and doors here? Because I see a (probably) dead person on the steps.

winetou said 691 days ago:

when you take this picture, did you realized that there's a person lying down in front of the door?
: )

it's so dramatic, but the focus more to the person, not the door and windows

philippe said 691 days ago:

That said, I don't really care about relevance, because I've seen images with a low relevance featured and images with a high relevance not featured. It's just a matter of how people will appreciate the picture . I like this one for its aesthetics and the funny way it tells a dramatic story. F... relevance.

winetou said 691 days ago:

King, that's the spirit. FUN FUN FUN. Don't really care about the being featured, as long as you have fun and follow the rules :)

JIMJIM said 691 days ago:

The theme should have been "Window and Doors and Dead man" then you would have won *for sure* ;-)))
Well, I hope so ;-))))

King said 691 days ago:

JIMJIM..."Windows and Doors and Dean Man"...why didn't I think of that?

King said 691 days ago:

winetou,
I had to notice the person lying down in front of the door because I am that person. I was relieved that the residents didn't come home to find me lying there! LOL

psychodudu said 691 days ago:

Now we're just being down right silly....

psychodudu said 691 days ago:

Shouldn't you have had the body conceptually hanging out of the first floor window, in an experimental pose?

King said 691 days ago:

psychodudu,
You got the point. I'm inspired by something philippe said and now I have an idea for another irrelevant photo.

By the way...I wasn't kidding about being relieved that the residents didn't come home to find me lying there. The house is occupied, but no one was home. I just shot it this morning.

King said 691 days ago:

Andrew said, "Shouldn't you have had the body conceptually hanging out of the first floor window, in an experimental pose?"

That is a *brilliant* idea! However, I'm sure you know by know that this was guerilla art. Get in, get the shot, get out before anyone notices.

King said 691 days ago:

I'm starting to enjoy this. With 13 ratings, this is one of my lowest-rated photographs, and I actually like it quite a bit:
* Relevance: 2.21
* Impact: 2.64
* Composition: 2.64
* Technique: 2.62
* Quality: 2.79
* Overall: 2.58

uh oh

Flatline said 691 days ago:

Well, before the Talmudic scholars begin evaluating Angels on Pinheads, I note that there are doors and windows.

Guess they saw you coming from the upstairs window, and took care of you before you ever got the door open... Not sure if you watch the Simpsons, but there was an episode where a master thief moves into Grampa Simpson's Old-Age home... he also wears all black, with white sneakers... "For sneaking!"

You need to take better care of your lawn.

King said 691 days ago:

Flatline,
Thanks, bro, and fellow Simpson's fan.
I was quite careful about the door and windows, so as not to irritate the W.S. Relevance Police.
This house actually exists in my neighborhood. I didn't exaggerate the house color much at all.
I'll get right on the lawn.

mtmartini said 691 days ago:

This looks like ti right out of a John Mellencamp song....well, except for the body. :)

mtmartini said 691 days ago:

You are very funny King, I gave you high marks for making me laugh so hard, so hopefully I didn't spoil your low ratings. :)

King said 691 days ago:

Thanks, Tracy...I'm moving up in the world. Now, with 15 ratings,
* Relevance: 2.38
* Impact: 2.88
* Composition: 2.94
* Technique: 2.80
* Quality: 2.94
* Overall: 2.788

King said 691 days ago:

This could also be titled, "Death by Pink."
And that's just water on the sidewalk, with hue, saturation and color balance adjusted to resemble blood.

philippe said 690 days ago:

What silly thing did I say to inspire you? :O)))

One can argue about relevance, but when I see such low ratings in composition, technique and quality, I think that's unfair (to say the least) and that the raters are not sincere and honest, and that really upsets me, as much as when it happens to me.
I'd like to hear the arguments of people who rate like this. Either there's a problem with the rating system, or is it with the people who rate?

One more thing: don't follow the rules!

King said 690 days ago:

philippe,
I expected the low ratings since this photo thumbs its nose at beauty.

With all of the strikingly beautiful photos already posted and not being able to or interested in competing in that arena, I decided to go for something different in my first image and to continue in my second, here.

These doors and windows are about the ugliest I could find.

The style I used is known and appreciated in art circles. In addition, I thought that Edward Scissorhands might be able to do some good work in this neighborhood. Personally, I think it is very funny.

What your words inspired me to do (I later changed my mind) was to find an abandoned warehouse and create my own WeeklyShot grafitti, with your words spelled out in full, and with a capital "R."

kadenajack said 690 days ago:

I see I've missed quite a discussion on this one. What the hell is going on here?

kadenajack said 690 days ago:

Should have realized this was a King work from a mile away. You're a strange dude King, but I like you.

King said 690 days ago:

Thanks, Jack...the feeling is mutual.

George said 687 days ago:

Well well well...I'm sorry I missed all the fun on this one. A dynamic list of images that generate the most discussion would make my life easier. At any rate, I would have rated this dots across the top. Damn. I'm sorry I missed out. You're a true envelope pusher, King (Kong). Thanks for the inspiration.

King said 687 days ago:

Thanks, George. You inspire me, too.
