25 for an excellent and artistic image

mtmartini, i think this composition is spot on. of course all elements of an image are subjective, but your choice adds much to the visual interest of the shot.

Very nice
King said 606 days ago:
Good idea, dramatic and well composed. After shooting this version, I would have broken out all the glass (carefully collecting the broken pieces) to shoot it with no glass in the panes. Did you do that?
neverhappen said 606 days ago:
This one does it for me in the theme. Something different too.
JIMJIM said 606 days ago:
Cool idea that has a great impact on me though there is something in the compo I can't put my finger on that disturbs !

Wow - a window in front of the Windows desktop theme :DDD
Scored 24 points - I'm not telling which one was only 4 :D

Thank you everyone for some great feedback.
@pursang - I myself liked the skewed composition, to me it added to the surreal feel of the image. But that is part of the subjective approach you speak of and I am into surreal imagery.
@King - I might try that tomorrow, I will defiantly send you the pictures if I cut myself (Blood on snow, very dramatic) :)
@bioLarzen - alas, I am a 100% mac person, enough said. ;)

JIMJIM,
what disturbs you might be that the window seems to be off perspective?
That's something, though thet even adds to the picture a lot for me.
mtmartini,
I don't know the default Mac screen theme, sorry :)
mtmartini said 605 days ago:
bioLarzen - I was just being cheeky, my default screen is neutral grey, which doesn't make for a very interesting shot. ;)

I keep coming back to this image because it is so interesting. I think it's the composition that draws me in. Not traditional, but adds movement to the image.
mtmartini said 602 days ago:
Thanks pursang - this was my favorite one of the two I posted, I felt that this was more dynamic and visually far more interesting but the other one was my fastest feature and highest rated image thus far in WS. Go figure.
pursang said 601 days ago:
This image is not as immediately accessible as the Featured shot and that's what makes it so interesting. There is a complexity to this image that does not exist in the snow/door image. This image makes me wonder, while the other image makes me wonder how you composed it so that you can't see foot marks. Big, big difference.
mtmartini said 601 days ago:
I was amazed that nobody picked up on the lack or foot marks. We recently got an abundance of snow and some great drifts developed around our back shed. My husband makes paths with a walk-behind snow blower so I was able to just lean over and stuff it in a 3 foot drift, then I climbed a ladder and snapped away, no tracks to photoshop out. :)
King said 601 days ago:
mtmartini...your explanation is congruent with my assumptions. My alternative assumption is that you are a snow fairy...they don't leave tracks!
mtmartini said 601 days ago:
Ah, if I was a snow fairy......:)

This image is so much more about the image and so much less about how it was done.

I like the idea quite a lot.
But the composition lacks something to me. Maybe the rule of thirds or something could've helped.
The space right from the window thing seems a little too large.
I would suggest a slightly narrower crop.
