I'm from the old school when it comes to cropping, so can't see any reason to crowd the subject's eye against the left frame. Is the subject supposed to be looking fierce, i.e., wild? The high contrast doesn't do anything for me either. Sorry to be so negative. Keep shooting!

Good high contrast image - I can see why it was put forward, but its not my interpretation of wild..
