dang. that's a bummer. I'd like to see the colour levels a bit jacked, but it's a good shot.

I'm looking for the word, "Pursang" on the bike. If this image was posted by pursang (Mark Kitaoka), then he probably didn't take the photo (naughty) so I can forgive the poor technical quality of this photo.

I'm glad to see that the rider shows no outward sign of being injured. What's the story? :>)

john said 482 days ago:

defiantly asks the question.

kadenajack said 482 days ago:

The story seems pretty straightforward here. I do wish he wasn't standing between the sun and the bike. His shadow is really obscuring the area where he seems to be looking.

I do like the subject matter...but photographically, the foreground needs some sort of separation from the busy background. At first I thought there might be someone under that motorcycle, but glad to see there's not : )

Well, the shot sucks technically cause I had all of about five seconds to hop off my bike, fumble my point-and-shoot outa the pocket, and try to catch my buddy's "damn, what just happened" posture before he started cussing me to get my butt over and help him pick up his bike. I felt a tad insensitive as it was,....but not much, it was spectacular. Just to the right was a pretty nasty 30-40 foot climb, he made it all the way to the top before catching a root and flipping his bike, it actually did a complete revolution before coming to rest as seen. I had just come up the hill myself, looked over my shoulder to catch his gymnastics, then rushed to get off the bike for the photo op, err, I mean to see if he was ok.

King said 482 days ago:

Hey, ballpeen,
Don't get me wrong--I wasn't criticizing the technical quality because I was pretty sure it was a snapshot. So you saw him take the tumble? then ran back down the hill? What a pal.

ballpeen said 482 days ago:

No worries King. The rub was that he'd actually made it all the way up a rather technical climb only to loose it right at the top.

King said 482 days ago:

@ballpeen...do you know that our pursang (Mark Kitaoka) is a big motorcycle racer?

ballpeen said 482 days ago:

Uh oh, elements of my world are going to collide. For me, it's a free time tug-of-war between photography and two wheeled pursuits. I've tried to combine them but one generally slows down the other.

King said 482 days ago:

...so did you know that the Pursang is a type of motorcycle?

ballpeen said 482 days ago:

Yup, a Bultaco. However, I never made the association. If he's lurking out there I'll confess my soft spot for Moto Guzzis.

King said 482 days ago:

...trust me, he's lurking.

pursang said 482 days ago:

King sent me the link to this image. I know this story very well, but in the desert. When you loop your bike, just once in a while you might get lucky to have it end up like this.

pursang said 482 days ago:

Guzzi, fancy feet warmers. I don't do off road anymore. On road stuff. Laguna Seca, Thunderhill, Buttonwillow.

ballpeen said 481 days ago:

Better hand warmers, good thing up here in the chilly northeast.
