This photograph does not make me ask any questions or doubts about what is going on. This seems very straight forward.
The top/left corner is distracting.

Hmmmm - who is that he is feeding into the grinder?

kadenajack said 525 days ago:

How cows become hamburgers.

The next door neighbour was annoying me, so I invited him over for dinner....

How sausage is made? I know that home-made sausage and other dried, prepared meats are popular in some Spanish-speaking countries. Am I warm?

Bether I dont ask what kind of meet is this ;)
To bad, that his hand is not sharpen. I am sorry, but for me make it not a strong impact.

Wint3r said 525 days ago:

home made and smoked pork sausage is dead on, though not quite a Spanish speaking country. In fact, Michigan is around as close to middle-america as you can get.

King said 525 days ago:

Wint3r...never been to Michigan, but I've been to Argentina enough times to see this same scene in the home of my host. The sausage and other cold cuts were great, too.

Tell more of the story! Who is this? Is this a hobby? or profession? What is your interest? What inspired you to take this photo?

Wint3r said 525 days ago:

King - thanks for the interest!

This is my father helping to grind meat for sausage. Once a year or so my family in Michigan buys a pig and/or slaughters one that they've had for a while and lots of different things are made out of it, one of my favorite of which is the sausage. So we came out to visit them at Thanksgiving (I'm actually from Minnesota) and got to join in with the sausage making festivities. It was a fun family get-together. I originally had three shots set up together in a vertical triptych watching the meat progressively go farther into the grinder.

If you're so inclined to look and see more, moving forward through the images shows a few of the other shots I got from that day.

It almost looks like he's feeding his hand into that thing...

Wint3r...we had a meat grinder like that when I was a kid. My mom used it for making hamburger, but we never made sausage. I wish we had.

Thanks.
