It's funny how the antlers look so natural in the tree. I suppose they were put up there on purpose. So what's the story?

Very nice work for a difficult subject. The antlers blend in so much with the bark (in terms of color) that I think it was a formidable challenge to make them stand out.

If I were to guess at the story, I would anticipate that these were left as a marker by a very active deer hunter as a means to mark where his favorite tree was for setting up his deer stand.

Great job!

Thank you folks for the comments. The actual story behind this, the area here is an area myself and some friends from all over the globe meet every spring and camp for several weeks at a time together and have done so for many years. One of the elderly gentlemen that has camped with us here for many years passed away in 02 but before he died he continuously requested to be cremated and his remains left in this area because he loved it so much. The antlers were part of his description when he spoke of how he'd like his final resting place to appear so the remainder of the group thought it was our duty to honor his request after his passing. I have some wider view photo's of the area, we stacked rocks in a large circle and a stack of rocks in the middle of them with flowers and some other decorations along with a photo of him sealed in a frame sitting not far from this place in his camper and mounted the photo on top of the rocks, all done per his descriptions in his final days. He was 82 years old.
Sadly missed. RIP EW.

OK, I give up, why are the antlers attached to the tree?

That's a great story pretorious. It's a fitting tribute to your friend.
