Beautiful work! I love the texture and the colors. Really a very striking image that I hope will become featured.

Well I for one want to know how you came to be holding that little guy, and I also want to know what breed of bird it is, I am not familiar with it's markings.

Philippe, my friend...congratulations on this beautiful Featured photograph.

Wow, that was a speed feature if I've ever seen one. Congratulations Phillipe.

What a speed feature indeed! It happens that our house is usually widely opened (when it doesn't rain) and once in a while a bird flies through one side to the other. But this little guy (called a "vini" here, don't know the scientific name, but I can find it if you want) missed the opening and smashed himself on the window. At first, I thought he was just knocked out, but he was dead. Sad. I hope it was not a suicide... :O)

It looks like a Zebra Finch or at least a variety of finch.
philippe said 522 days ago:
It could be a "neochmia temporalis".

Philippe, do you live in French Polynesia? Thanks for the name, I looked it up and this bird is indigenous to Australia but has been introduced for breeding purposes to French Polynesia, so I must assume that is where you live.

You assume well. :o)
Tahiti, French Polynesia.

Isn't this our second bird-in-the-hand photo? Quite a striking little face. Is this a finch? This is a good closeup, with excellent light, sharpness. I suppose the photographer is holding the bird. If only the thumb were not quite so parallel to the bottom of the frame--but that may just be a personal thing. High marks.
