To me, clouds are the opposite of "weight". Even "heavy" looking stormclouds like these are still light enough to float on their own in the air. I do like the exposure technique you used.

Great!

Montage said 862 days ago:

I guess you could say they're heavy clouds.

gorin-images said 862 days ago:

Now that I think about it more, I guess "light" clouds still convey the idea of "weight". Just light weight. I think that lighter looking wispier clouds would convey light weight even more though, than these cumulus clouds.

hi jarrett, thanks for your reply.
fyi, these "cumulonimbus" clouds are about 200,000 tonns... perhaps more.

interesting!!

Amazing. That they weigh that much and are still less dense than the surrounding airmass, so they literally float on it like a ship then? I guess that is serious weight then ;)

VernonTrent said 862 days ago:

it's pretty simple to get the weight :))
1m³ air has the weight of about 1.2 kg.

Very dramatic.

So if this was just a cloud I would say you did a terrible job with the selective color correction in photoshop...but under the theme of "weight" I see a 50 Megaton nuclear explosion here. Not bad ;)

Looks like a marshmallow that exploded out of a campfire. ;)

really like this one for this theme.
terrific detail in the layers of cloud and tone of sky.
