I love the tones for this image but the composition does really work for me plus a bit of a barrel distortion as well. I am really nitpicking here (I hope you dont mind) but I think you almost nailed the theme. Cheers!

aside from the ceiling panels missing, this looks like it's in pretty good shape! old classroom?

This is a really good B&W shot, however the condition of this room does not depict decay. It's actually in great shape!

I've seen more decay at an oral hygienist's convention

Hmm...some of you seem to think that this does not fall under the 'decay' part of the theme. So let me shortly describe the context of this shot and why I think it is relevant to the current theme.

This is a room in a building that has been abandoned after about 40 years of use. Although it is not very apparent from the photo you will have to believe me when I say that the room is indeed in a sorry state. The ceiling looked as if it was ready to be pulled down, the telephone wire had been ripped out, the walls were discolored and marked. To me that is decay or perhaps to put it better the start of decay. Yes, I agree it does not fit the theme to a t but for me, as soon as I saw the room, it instantly brought the word decay (among others) to my mind. And that is why I put it up. You are of course free to disagree and I thank you for voicing your opinion/criticism frankly and honestly.

What a strange place. I don't see decay so much as disuse. Did you try to make a long-distance call on the telephone? Now to click "submit" and read seven comments...can't wait.
