Well, if I'm willing to make a rather long-winded and purely speculative interpretation of this photograph, then I will be able to find it relevant, and with impact. Without that, it scores rather low on both. I think, deep down, I will go the way of the interpretation, which is rather seductive, although my ratings won't follow. :)

Brilliant take on this theme. Love it!

Love this. What a powerful statement.

If the theme was nutritional and/or dental decay you'd score top marks, but this is a fabulous example of urban rebirth

Thank you very much for the feedback. As Vernon has spotted, and taken a beautiful photo of it, this is the former Imperial cafe in Porto, Portugal, current Imperial McDonald's. For me this represents urban decay par excellence since a beautiful old art-nouveau cafe that used to one of Porto's landmarks is now invaded by the kitsch taste of the global corporate capital. I don't mean to say that neither McDonald's nor the kitsch are not part of the urban structures, they are urban phenomena on the contrary. But decay, in my opinion, is not only rust and decomposition, it can also be the shiny invading signs of the corporate.

How appropriate - cultural imperialism is responsible the decay of cities around the world.
