I'm not sure I would think urban decay with this shot. I see it more as an outdated building in need of painting.

And crumbling cracked brickwork, and an empty storefront because this stretch of the street doesn't get many walk-by customers, and a cracked tree planter with cement chunks on the sidewalk because the city is out of money. That's precisely what urban decay is. It doesn't always have to look like Beirut or Brush Park in Detroit.

There's no such thing as an outdated building if it's kept in good repair (Europe has lots of buildings much older than this) but this one has been allowed to decay.

This is great. Love the 'closed' sign, the 'for rent' sign and the "store" sign. all good!

I find this photograph to be pleasing, but not special. In studying it, I wonder what the metal posts are with the circles attached and I notice that no attempt was made to level the planter boxes that slope downhill with the sidewalk...appears not to have confused the trees.

...and I see your point, tenebrophilia. By "not special," I mean it doesn't shout out "Decay!" as loudly as some of the other images. I find some of the images submitted in this theme to be overly manipulated (e.g., in Photoshop), with hyper-saturated colors and dramatic but irrelevant HDR effects. Your image is simple, honest and direct, by contrast, and that's one of the reasons I like it.
