You composed this shot well. I think it would have worked better if you had knocked the exposure down a stop and used a reflector to bounce some light into the shadows. You also could have used a flash in place of the reflector, probably at -3 stops. The risk of using flash in this case would have been unnatural specular highlights conflicting with those from the sun.
