Very pretty image, but it just does not say "twisted " to me... it says "circular" or some such thing. But I enjoy the cropping and surprising for me, I think the darkness works very effectively.

I like the highlights against the dark background.

This image of the film reel shows excellent composition and lighting. Wonderful exposure and the dof you've chosen is spot on. 5's all the way.

I'm thinking coiled instead of twisted, but I really like the composition. What is this?

mtmartini said 429 days ago:

These are reels used to develop film. I originally tried to find them for the PITA theme because they can be a bit tricky to get used to using but I couldn't and as I was looking around for something to post for my last image I saw the canister containing these. I was also curious to see who the people are that recognize them for what they are, a little tongue in cheek experiment for all those that switched from film to digital. :-)

I know what this is! Neat idea, very subtly executed. High marks.

King said 428 days ago:

Aha, I found you on my first try! This is really very good work.

mtmartini said 428 days ago:

Thanks King. I figured you would know what these are but I think that the majority of current WS participants don't. Then I thought that you were going to kill me for the shallow DOF but it as very intentional. ;-)

King said 428 days ago:

Tracy,
Why would I kill you for the shallow DOF? It works, doesn't it?

I've worked at everything from f1.4 on a 35mm camera to f128 on an 11"x14" view camera. The issue remains: are the important parts of the subject in focus? Or, alternatively, does everything that needs to look sharp for the success of the photograph actually look sharp? Implied in the preceding: Is the photographer in control and does s/he have a deep understanding of what s/he is doing?

This works fine, IMHO.
