This is quite a beautiful image. I'm not sure about relevance, because fire in nature brings new beginnings. The transitions between foreground, middle ground and background are a bit to harsh to my tastes, but that might also add to the impact.

For some reason it evokes the intro to the movie Apocalypse Now when Jim Morrison is singing "The End" and there are shots of trees not exactly like these but similar... I like. =)

I'm not sure. I do like the more "subtle" version you've just mentioned, but I really think what you submitted here is spot on. I love the harsh contrast - I agree with tommyblue, very Apocalypse Now. At least that was my first thought when I saw this.

Just came across this image. I have to say that for my tastes the more subtle, toned down version is much more appealing.

However, for 'The End' theme, the one you have posted works perfectly. Nice shot either way.
