Too bad the other 8 raters are too scared to comment/don't know how to comment/are too lazy to comment (you fill in the blank ________), so I can better understand the ratings. I should add that I'm not so obtuse as to not understand, but I guess I am trying to make a point.
Jeff, on the horizon there are two vehicles. On the left is a large pickup truck. On the right is what is called a scraper - a huge earth moving diesel powered behemoth of machinery (belching diesel soot) that is able to literally scrape away large volumes of earth for land development projects. In this case the lovely curve of the hill was in a few short weeks time flattened by a flotilla of these machines, to make way for a Walmart or something like that. A massive amount of earth was displaced. Hence, "the end" of the hill in an immediate context, and in a larger context the continuing end of the balance of nature on this planet.
I was hoping that a) people would take the time to study the image for a few seconds and b) having done so would recognize the equipment described and the obvious implications.
Again, I appreciate your input Jeff!

I like the sweep of the hill emphasized by silhouetting the subject matter. I'm afraid I don't understand the relevance to "the end" - but I have to say the same for most of the photos entered in this theme. (Is this the end of the day...or perhaps this guy is going to take the equipment and run over the truck and it'll be the end of the truck. No biggie...it's probably me being dense.) I like the photo in any event.
