It's too bad this hadn't been taken with a digital camera because it loses a lot of it's impact and clarity when scanned.

I know - I tried many things to try to reduce the noise and other by-products of scanning (even though it was scanned from the negative), but with not much success. But it is still on of my favorites, and if Hiroshima isn't symbolic of the end, I don't know what is!

I would have really liked this if the foreground hadn't been there. The bit I like best are the trees against the sky.

I have scanned a couple of my negatives and they don't come out near as crisp as I would like especially when compared to digital. I have also posted a few of my personal favs (scanned) and I won't do so any again because they are TOO personal and I am not happy unless everyone loves them, then I get defensive which is not productive. I also love this image but agree with groen65 that the foreground detracts a bit. ;-)

groen65's point is interesting. At the time, I quite deliberately composed the shot with the circular hedge in, but now that he points it out, I think he and you are right - it is distracting. So I learned something from posting it!
