Top marks for this one! Excellent!

Not sure what to say about this one. Relevant, powerful, good composition, and disturbing all at the same time.

The end feels!!!!

This image is very eery thanks to the framing and background. Well done. On a side note it makes me look at the image from a photographers viewpoint and think "boy that mud looks cold". So I guess either way, as a model or a corpse, I wouldn't want to be laying there! LOL.

This is terribly strong. More than a dead cat, IMHO (although I like cats). I don't know if this is for real, I hope not. There's a strange "dichotomy" between the graphism of the scene and the aesthetic perfection of the B&W.

many of the ones that have gotten featured so far, while nice to look at, didn't seem that relevant to me. this one however is spot on. favourite of the bunch.

This shot is a staged self portrait.
I spent about an hour stumbling round in the muck, pressing the self timer, jumping down in the burnt out ash and with sticks sticking up into me... All for art :) Thanks for the comments.

I'm glad it was staged!!

A staged self portrait? Hm, in this case, Photografica, it is a "happy end". Well done!

It's the cold dirty feet that really does it for me along with the stark burnt out surroundings - tremendous.

Konwing this is staged makes me feel happier to comment now! Obviously the very fact that I couldn't tell whether it was real or not is a good start - very realistic - the tones are lovely - the detail on the feet wonderful - but I think what makes it work so well is the almost perfect framing even down to the different lengths of the stalks around your feet - they make almost a perfect oval frame.
Great shot - worth all the running around - and i'm very glad that you were able to stand up and continue your everyday life in this life afterwards!

Personally I wouldn't mind if it wasn't staged. Isn't death a part of life? People submitted images of military funerals and graveyards. I think showing the feet of an actual dead person wouldn't be disrespectful, perverse or shocking. Life is death, photography is the records of our lives. I think this is a beautiful shot and I did before I knew it was a self portrait.

Thanks Moodeous. I agree with you that whether it was staged or not is irrelevant to whether it's a good photo. But I understand people are a little disturbed by images of dead people, even if it was just some feet. I'm happy it looks realistic enough that people thought it might be a dead person, but seriously, where are you going to find a scene like this?? I didn't even shoot this with a solid "death" as my theme. I wanted it to be leading that way, but ambiguous. I wanted people to wonder if he's dead, but not be absolutely sure.
Thanks everyone for the comments.

This is no critisim of your image but I find that I cannot rate these types of shots ... I find it sort of distasteful ... in a way this is where WS falls down where you cannot say something about the shot as the photographer ... if this is a staged shot I would feel happy to rate - if this is in fact a dead person ... I do not feel I can rate it ...
