Striking... and scary. Impact 5

Ana said 533 days ago:

strong image

This is a painful shot. I think the off-set composition and the shift in focus/dof towards the left of her face accentuates the sense of life slipping away. Gripping.

Stunning / Graphic / Gritty / Twisted and Scary

Bravo

King said 533 days ago:

This is sad to look at, of course. I'm not a fan of eccentric cropping without some good reason (although some folks like it fine).

Thanks EmilyHorne, Ana, CraigMartin, ArneG and King - for your comments.

As far as my lower scores in Technique & Quality it was captured through a lensbaby lens.

Very dramatic!

Graphic!

This image has lots of impact. This image says the struggle for survival to me more then "the end" but that is a very subjective feeling for me and since I deal with emergency crews and such photographically a lot I'm jaded a bit in that view. I could easily see how you the creator, and others, would see "The End" in it. Hope it gets featured because it really grabs me.

dcreighton said 533 days ago:

BTW- I like the selective focus and technique on this image. A good use of the LensBaby which is often misused IMHO.

I don't know how you have the gall to take a picture in this situation. Same as people that take photos during funerals, etc. I think it's disrespectful or something, and I don't have the gall to do it. Personal feelings aside - effective image. I hope this really wasn't this young womans end. She looks too young!

This is real.

gall?

gall1  /gɔl/
–noun
1. impudence; effrontery.
2. bile, esp. that of an animal.
3. something bitter or severe.
4. bitterness of spirit; rancor.

------------------------------------------------------

Restricted airways make the flow of oxygen to the brain halt - pass out and go directly to the hospital.
The landscaper finds out she has adult asthma.
Good news - it is manageable.

No dying occurred during the making of this photo.

Just a real life experience from my world - my most important person - documented by way of my camera.
Thankful it happened because now the condition can be treated and bad outcomes...avoided!

post script; i don't like funerals.
