This really is a decisive moment. I understand this to fit the theme more appropriately than if the dog was near or had claimed the ball.
This is the exact moment.

I somehow find this picture very humorous, almost cartoony--and I mean that in a good way. Although it's giving me a bit of a headache, I think the tunnel vision effect is very, well, effective, and I can definitely see the theme. Great timing for the capture. The colors do seem a little overly saturated and the dog's back and grass around the dog a bit over-sharpened, but maybe that was your intention for effect?

i like the color in this photo. the exaggerated blue on the dogs back, the rock in the corner, the ball, the hints throughout the shot. the hyper color works for me. that "circular" blurring really doesnt work for me. im not really sure why its being used & its disorienting for me. it doesnt give me more, it takes away.

The "circular" blurring comes from the use of a Lensbaby, it's what was on the camera when I glanced over at Earle and caught this shot. Regarding Earle's back, must be why the breed is referred to as Blue Heelers.

What a spot-on shot of a decisive moment. The blur is a bit distracting for me (it makes me dizzy) but I think this photo has great impact.
