too much of this is out of focus for the texture to stand out, but relevant all the same.

Very nice, I think because the images is so close to monochrome, I would make it a b&w conversion and really go after the texture that is definitely there, but somewhat hiding...

Top and bottom are completely out of focus. Was this on purpose? The best 'texture' was out of focus.
Bark is going to get really boring.

Nice macro a little narrow on the DOF. I think if there was a little more DOF on the grain then this would have more impact. Also a little more contrast for some punch.

wish it was a little more focused... great use of lines and texture is there.... gives you a 2D/3D feel..

I'm usually a fan of shallow DOF but in this case, I think it muddies up the otherwise wonderful texture here. I love the lines and the little speck towards the right.
