Cool composition and a very clean shot. Oh, and top notch color too.

I should have known it was you Jarrett. That looks like a fire fighting plane.

Thanks for the comments. ChriZ, my favorite thing in this entire image is how the propeller blades came out.
Jeff, this IS one of the fire fighting aircraft stationed at the Santa Barbara airport for fire season. I'm obsessive about aircraft, so thanks to the internet, I was able to use just the silhouette to figure out that this is a Grumman ST-2 Turbo Tracker. The only way to distinguish this from the "regular" tracker is the 5-bladed props, so I am glad they came out in the shot ;)

I love the composition on this.

Brings to mind an Escher simply because it's not immediately evident which way the aircraft is going. At any rate, you nail the theme on relevance, though I think the body of the aircraft might have been stronger at a slightly different angle (yeah, I know, it's kinda hard to control an aircraft's flight path :) As it is the nose gets lost in the body/wing, which kind of blunts it. The color is superb, though I'm finding the overall shot a bit static. Excellent image quality.

Thanksfor leaving such adetailed commentGeorge. I think Iagree with you about the nose. Iguess further along on the flight path would actuallyhave gotten more of the angle you are suggesting. The trade off would be the position relative to the setting sun, but who knows...that might have been a better trade off....
The thing was moving too fast, and at a certain angle relative to my shooting position formeto get more than this one shot. I will certainly have your suggestion in mind in the event Iever go out to try and re-shoot a similar subject.
