I've come back to this several times, trying to find words to describe this shot. It isn't "silence." Distress, loss, despair, darkness.....
The open hand gives off a gesture of sound? Hard to explain. Great shot, but doesn't hit the theme for me.

The Idea was kind of despair, but hours later.
He (starring me) is supposed to be asleep. Shocked, troubled, despaired, a breakup, something like that, and then one drink after another and this is the result at maybe 5 am.
Exhausted, silent.
I really appreciate your thoughts about the hand. It seems to be still in despair. Maybe the hand seems to speak, but if so, no words. It's past the words. Maybe a tense silence.
Wow - now you made me think a whole concept over again. Thanks! :-)
