bit dull, the sky needs to be more interesting, or crop more of it out i think... sorry to be so negative

I would like to see this image with a bolder crop - square from the left to lose the right hand side of the building. Nice urban semi-abstract though.

Well this has me wondering what the sign is saying? Cool. "New America"? But why? Is this Dutch? Is there a town in the Netherlands called "New America"? I'll have to google this after leaving the comment.

I'm not sure about the white space on the left. Does it add something to the shot for you? I'm almost thinking like a square format cropped just to the left of the sign might have made it pop out at me even more. Might have also gotten a better look at that interesting cord or wire or whatever it is attached to the foreground pillar on the bottom right. At any rate, an image I've enjoyed viewing and wondering about :-) Now if you'll excuse me I'm off to google...

Have you found anything yet, George? You are right, it is Dutch and more specifically, 3 blocks of flats called Boston, Detroit and Chicago, which together form Nieuw Amerika in the eastern docklands of Amsterdam. This is the area where the emigrant ships to America left from and most of the trade with America and the rest of the world took place. The photo is of the sign of the underground car park (P for parking). I never thought of cropping the picture as I liked it floating in the air, but as both you and duncmc suggested it I cropped it on the right upto the sign so leaving the sky in and I think that worked well. I suspect the cord has something to do with opening and closing the door, but I'm not good enough at PS to be able to remove it. Thanks for your comments!

Nynke, Thanks for the info! Very very interesting. I did google it after leaving my comment, but I simply located it on the map, so learning this information about the immigrant ships is really fascinating. Thanks for submitting this shot :-)

As for cropping, for what it's worth, my preference would be to remove most of the sky and leave the sign and building in. But that's just me!
