methan: this is actually a 'self-portrait' with the camera sitting on my camera bag, so composition and sharpness was a bit of a challenge.

blythe: It really means 'no standing' as in 'don't park your car here'. But since it was down so low on the wall, I thought it a perfect opportunity for this shot.

owen: Thanks for the comment, but I must say I really don't understand where you're coming from. The guy (me) standing there, depite the 'no standing' sign is actually what the shot is all about.

I agree with owen-b that it seems posed. But I think that is the entire point. Montage is in fact one dangerous fella who likes living on the edge. I think that without him standing there it would be a pretty plain shot. So bravo.

Sure - sorry for not making it clear and for having a slightly different way of seeing it! Basically, it's a funny shot - look, I'm standing here and it says No Standing! - but I like more interesting and less easy 'funny shots'. If it had been more obviously a regular pedestrian standing there or something, that would have appealed more.

Also, I just like negative space, and I would have liked the exact same shot, but with nobody standing there. It would have drawn more attention to the idea that you weren't allowed to stand on that particular spot, and made more of a mockery of such a silly notion.

I appreciate that it means cars, and not people, but still...
