love the textures and your expression richard. the white of your right eye gives the shot a little creepiness - a little jekyll and hyde feel which i quite like.

overall i like this image and i find it to be a tough and direct psychological self portrait
but i am distracted by that very white eye in the darkness, i want to like it, it is clear that it is intentional and it does hold meaning
but for me it does not seem to really be a part of the face

The blown-out effect in this photograph is very effective, as are the desaturated colors. A fascinating that makes me wonder what the subject is thinking right then.

Your expression has soul and sadness and impact. The technique that you used on this image enhances those feelings. I don't know if this is what you were feeling but this is how it speaks to me...
