The thumbnail doesn't do it justice. The tones and textures remind me of a statue. Profoundly sad.

i totally feel this image in a visceral way so the ratings i gave don't really make sense

to me this is an image that is about its overall impact and to break it down to its parts isn't that relevant (but i am trying to get on board with the rating thing as it goes against my grain in general)

my only criticism is that i see this image more as a metaphor for a part of the human condition as opposed to it focusing me on the individual.

Running down the list of submissions, this is the one I was immediately drawn to. The residue of sadness is so apparent in the tear-streaked mascara and the downward glance that the subject's/photographer's emotional state is instantly tranferred to the viewer. Very evocative.
