I like this... It's very crisp. Good lighting. The white circle in the back is both interesting and kind of distracting for me. I wonder what it would look like if it was a little less pronounced?

In any event, I dig this shot. Would like to see it on the homepage.

The expression grabs you but the rest of the photo does not. The lighting appears to have been carefully constructed but it just doesn't appear to add anything for me and actually detracts from the image. The radial fade on the wall is another component of the image not adding anything and if anything seems artificial.

Fascinating photograph that captures intensity in the subject. I think the intentionally plain background and expressionless face have a surprising amount of impact in their gimmick-less simplicity. It's as if the photographer isn't afraid to say, "This is who I am, whether you appreciate it or not."

Well, I'd have to say that I like both the lighting and the expression. It's not a traditional style of lighting that I'd pick for most portraits, but it surely is an attention getter.

In this venue, where comments/ratings often seem to come from having a thumbnail with impact & attraction- the design of the lighting setup gives the image a heads-up over many other ones. Go back to the thumbnail page and scan down- this is a picture that jumps right out of the page at you from dozens around it. Doesn't mean the lighting is the best choice, but it does mean a lot of thought was given to the impact rating. My salute to you for that.

The only fault I'd have is that it doesn't tell me very much about yourself (neither does my entries), but overall I find it a very nice self-portrait.

I think that the portrait is great. This a self-portrait so it is telling of the personality of the person. The lighting is reminiscent of celebrity editorial layouts. Everything is designed to bring the focus to the subject. Great job!
