so sweet mr. pursang ... nice portrait. she is your wife ?
King said 514 days ago:
This is a sweet moment. Even if we didn't know this person, the lighting and the composition tell us this is a photograph of the daddy's happy face.
I like how the line of her next follows the line of his shoulder, and she seems to be sincere in her affection. I expect to see this featured so, and *this one* would be deserved.

My WIFE!? Uh, my 19 year old daughter would be absolutely insulted. Man I hope she doesn't view this image here...
I haven't had a wife in 8 years and seriously doubt I'll have another one, unless her name is Canon or Honda. And I will make an exception for any woman who owns her own SnapOn Truck franchise and has a very generous soul. Hand tools are my addiction and an expensive one at that.
uvikidd, the focus may seem soft on Nori because compared to my old face hers has no lines, the smoothness of youth.
VT, you know this feeling with your own daughters. It's something that can't be described. So on Easter I asked Nori if she would do a theme entry with me for having her kiss me on the cheek. We took one shot and this is it. The sincerity of the moment was the most important part for me. I sure miss her. Should have encouraged her to flunk out of high school so she would stay at home...boohoo!

Well, I just wonder whose this one might be :DDD
Interesting, because this one seems a very little bit colder in tone than your usual b&w ones and that's something I would never guess would work for a theme like this one - and still it does. I guess, that says it all about the difference in our experience :)
What I value in this one most is it's honesty. Despite the colder tone it radiates warmth - something else I would not really expect from a b&w. Still it does...
I still love your work.

bio, you are VERY perceptive. I often add a warming layer over my images, but for this one I did not. Adding the layer rendered the image too 'cliche' for me, so I left it in its native bw.

pursang,
My daughter's name is Nora, but one of my pet names for her is Nori (pronounced no ree). I find that to be a very interesting coincidence.
I'm in great sympathy with your tool addiction.
pursang said 514 days ago:
That is an amazing coincidence! Nori is named after my late father Nori. I reserved the name for my first born irregardless of gender. In school, she use to get so pissed that people would call her Lori. Her name fits as she has the tenacity of Sisyphus without the vices of course.
So do you know any female SnapOn Truck owners? In this specific case, I don't even care if they were not born female!
King said 514 days ago:
In my neighborhood, we have at least one of each. Don't ask "each what?" I said one of each, and I mean one of each.
I'll see what I can do to help...and send a pic if possible.
Speaking of Sisyphus...that sounds like Jarrett, too, don't you think?
P.S. - you mean irrespective. Nori could tell you that.

And more coincidence up my sleeve: Nori (or, rather Nóri) is a variation of the Hungarian (female) name Nora (Nóra). It's also pronounced something like No-ree, but accent rather on the first syllable.
But not that surpsising, Japanese and Hungarian names have things in common: for example we both write - and say - our names "the other way around": Surname first, "first name" second :)

This gives me a sense of contentment looking at it. Well done.

Congrats my friend. :-)
King said 514 days ago:
Congratulations, Mr. Pursang. I hope Nori will be pleased.

Thanks King and Tracy. Nori looked at the image last night and here's her reaction:
'Dad, why are you comparing me to some Greek guy who pushes a rock up a hill? What is SnapOn and why are you saying you don't care if the woman was born a woman? Jon (her BF) wants to leave a comment. Oh, it's only for members? Can you invite him even though he doesn't photograph? No? Well he says he'll find a way to hack their system. Ok, thanks Dad, love you, bye.'
How's that for college speak? Kids! You raise them, you help educate them and this is what you get! ;-)
