Very nice. Excellent sharpness right where it needs to have it. Engaging expression. I like that you have incorporated your hand into the photo. Good work, high marks.

<Discussion> The crop is probably just a bit tight on your ear, given that you've left plenty of space on the right side of the frame.

Although you've processed this portrait to make the lighting more dramatic than the unprocessed version, my many years of portraiture cause me to think it odd that there is no tone on the left side of your face. Plenty enough light was landing on your face to include a small amount of shadow detail. There doesn't have to be much. Why did you go for solid black--including the specular highlight in the eye, which I know is there in the original.

Here's an example of great shadow detail on a portrait lit similarly to this one:

King: You are right about the crop. To me the image seems a bit unbalanced.

I had to think about your second point. I've had a look for the unprocessed version to try and work out what my thoughts were at the time. I can't find it though. Sods law :)

I seem the recall that there was little detail left on the right side (the result of the small bright desk lamp I was using), not enough at the time for me to consider keeping or enhancing it.

You might be right though - perhaps I should have kept the detail that was there. Something to consider for the next time, eh?

Thanks for your comment. It got me thinking.
