I don't quite get the body positioning, but otherwise, this is a technically well done photograph. not sure it's a self portrait as much as it is an artsy set up. I like the lighting.

Beautiful lighting and soft focus (not sure if I like the right leg being out of the frame). Overall, a wonderful image.

Very striking shot, high impact, beautiful mood...but I am not so sure I understand why so many people are hiding their faces in these self-portraits. One's face is so integral to the idea of portrait I think...

*Except* for the fact that I think the eccentric framing does little for this image and that the lights and darks are a little heavy-handed...

This is really very good.
This is really very, very good.

In fact, the impact is so great, that I was tempted not to cast a critical eye in any way whatsoever. But I don't believe that is what W.S. is about. My opening critique was made only after some study and consideration of this remarkable self-portait.

I love the lighting and the form of this image, but, I think 'you' could have filled more of the space. lovely though.

Ana said 475 days ago:

@Craig. I'm one to hide my face (as explained in my belly shot). Not because I don't want people to see me, but because it's not necessary (for me) to show who I am, by using my face. I can do it in other ways. I think the best EVER 'self portrait' was the one that one person had with the puppet on strings in front of the computer. Can't find it now, but it was great, and had no human in the shot at all, but really told me how the person saw himself. If anyone remembers and can find that shot, it was a great self portrait!

Thanx to everybody for their feedback and comments, and yes it is a self portrait. God bless the self timer.

The guru of the photography often says, that shot cannot be centered. But in this case, I would like a centered shot. Very good posing! Well done!

I love this and I don't know why it's not featured. Maybe some of the top could be cropped off, but that's about my only criticism. I'm cropping with the top of my monitor and this also looks great in a more square format.

I love how the highlights are sooo so close to being blown, and yet somehow retain that nice softness. It's beautifully lit, and a very striking pose. Great work, and should be on the front page, for my money.

Nice - I would have preferred if it was cropped a tad to the left (my left that is)

Hooray, congratulations Ade.
