I don't know where this photo was taken, but it brings to mind adventure and mystery.

IMHO (I've decided to try starting all my comments with IMHO), this is a very high-quality image. The first thing I noticed is the monochromatic quality as your shirt and shoulder strap blend with the background tones and colors, so your face stands out.
I like the way you positioned yourself relative to the doorway (and I hope you will tell us the location)...and I like the way the light plays across the door and its archway--it's very striking IMHO.
I also like your expression and the turn of the head. The catchlight in your eye indicates that you are holdling a reflector (unless you deliberately lit this entire scene), to throw some light on your face and that IMHO is very effective, too.
All in all, quality work that I would hang on my wall.

i love this picture. it looks very movie-esque. it has a science fiction type feel to it. sort of a dark brooding feel. very cool.

I think this is a wonderful image - the dramatic angles and the incredible door. The lighting almost looks as if it is a reflection from a pool adding to the mystery. Lovely!

Ooo my first feature, hooray :)
- Tom, the door is what first attracted me and I did try to get a few shots of that but wasn't happy with any of them. I did check for boogies before posting ;)
- King, I hope you have the energy to continue posting all these lengthy and well thought out comments, they're great. The location is a small side street on the island of Riddarholmen in Stockholm, and the lighting believe it or not is the built in flash on the camera ;)
Thanks for the comments all, very much appreciated :)

I think this was my favorite of the self portraits. I love the straightforward way you shot yourself without hiding behind something or resorting to gimmicks. At the same time, the extreme angle and the backdrop of the doorway really helped make the image pop out and drew my interest. This the self portrait I would like to take.

Thanks, Dennis. I'm taken some heat for my "preachy" opinions and long comments, so I'm kinda discouraged on the one hand, but grateful for your remarks on the other.
I glanced at your web site, by the way, searching for your e-mail address so I could take this offline. I'm going back now and I recommend your site to *everyone*.

I love the door behind you - would like to see a shot of that. A reasonable self portrait but I can almost see the boogies in your nose!!! (just kidding ;-)
