The idea is good - to draw attention to the only lighted object in the frame. But somehow the composition is not working to make this a great image. Perhaps it is to do with the more than necessary amount of dark space or the hands being better lit than the face.

Well done. I like it. It wouldn't hurt to have just a little detail in the background. Some hint of the room in which the desk and the person are located. Otherwise, you could crop in a bit because the broad black frame doesn't add anything, in my opinion.
