King, what's a D-max?

D-max is a film photographer's term used especially of photos shot on color slide film. D-max is the maximum density (i.e., blackest black) that can be obtained with the film. With a properly exposed image, it enhances the sense of contrast. When color slides are "pushed" in processing to gain speed, you get both more grain and less contrast...less D-Max.

So in reference to uvikidd's excellent photograph, I was just remarking that there is no solid black in the deep shadow areas.

@king, thank's for your information/share, it would be a good references for me and the other. Now I can imaging how to make this photo by a slide film, cause i made this photo using a DSLR.
