by far the most original and shameless yet... ;-)

gorin-images said 675 days ago:

Of course it's totally posed ;)

It seems like, in many cases, everyone looks so serious or "cool" in their self-portraits. So I thought it would be interesting to do a very "un-cool" self-portrait.

Flatline said 675 days ago:

At what point did you realize that you're out of paper?

Good stuff, not THAT much that I can learn about you, and the knee is *slightly* over-exposed, though that may have happened later when bringing in contrast. It's a good take on the theme.

i love a good toilet shot. nicely done;)

gorin-images said 675 days ago:

@Flatline....I can see you studied this image closely.... ;)

There's a whole spare roll in the top part of the dispenser. In reality, since this is not a "true action" shot, I didn't need any toilet paper ;)

Well, crap. How do you rate this one. Umm......it's relevant, but the ahh, pose, stinks! Good lighting though. I hope you flushed and washed your hands when you were done!

philippe said 675 days ago:

Haha! Great! Next step: a picture of your own poop ;-)

gorin-images said 675 days ago:

Ha Ha Phillipe!!!! I think there is already a guy that specializes in that type of shot....his name is Robert Mapplethorpe.

LynnR said 675 days ago:

So, you're telling us, you're always in the crapper, or you're full of crap? ... ???? I'm sorry, I just couldn't resist, and not knowing what the other 10 people have said, someone has got to have made a similar comment .......

Yay! Poop!

Holy crap!! This got featured!!! Just kidding. Pardon the horrible pun ;)

I wasn't sure if people were going to think I was being disrespectful to the idea of a "Self-Portrait" theme or not. Certainly, I was not trying to do that..just to have some fun with one of these...since often, they are sooooooooooo serious.

Glad y'all enjoyed it!

Ana said 675 days ago:

I'm with you and not being so serious about this thing, but my shots didn't get received as well. :)

guess I have to drop my pants for that! aye?

philippe said 675 days ago:

Mapplethorpe, of course. I had seen some "interesting" shots, but I didn't know he was also into coprophilia :-)

cdcootie said 675 days ago:

So cool and unexpectedly as I had come (falsely apparently) to see you as a bit tightly wound and very serious. Glad to see another side of you :-) so to speak.

feelingdave said 675 days ago:

If this picture was intended to be silly or comical, I totally get it and I like that aspect of it. What I like best though about this picture is the balance of light and dark in the image itself and how it flows down the page. It creates the true interest, for me. Excellent job dude.

I just love this one. Humor, great lighting and a Featured for my friend Jarrett. Have your son take this to school and show his friends and teachers for Back to School Night! Great shot J!

digitalpeace said 675 days ago:

Excuse me but you look serious too.

jlc said 675 days ago:

I do not think he looks serious. Concentration perhaps?

i like the idea ! :o)

Cooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool :P

Nothing to say man :)

mooch said 675 days ago:

Very amusing and all the pun opportunities were taken

micki said 675 days ago:

By far this is my favorite self-portrait of the week! Gotta love a man who will pull down his pants and sit on a toilet for all the world to see. Did you use a remote or did you have to do get in position in 10 seconds?

King said 675 days ago:

This is a nightmare come true. How embarrassing. What would your mother say? This is what photography has fallen to?

If I hadn't already seen photos of high-fashion models sitting on the toilet in Vogue about 30 years ago, I wouldn't know what to think. At least you showed some leg.

Just yanking your chain, of course.
:>)

Keep shooting!

gorin-images said 675 days ago:

Hi Micki,

To do this, I used a previously barely-used feature of my camera...and a great tool for self-portraits: interval shooting.

You can set the camera to take a series of shots at a fixed time interval. In this case, I set it up the composition and focus, then set the interval shooting timer to take 30 shots spaced 10 seconds apart. Then I got into postiion, just sort of sat around, and let the camera take a shot every 10 seconds. Then I looked at all the shots and picked out this one ;)

I generally enjoy your work, you have a good eye for spotting nice abstract elements, many of the images being nicely balanced with a pleasing simplicity. But I think this image is of of your best, technically and aesthetically many of your other images are far superior but what I enjoy most about this image is it's so outside your usual photographic comfort zone and carried off so well. It's a sign of a developing artist when they are able to step outside of what they usually do, think of an idea, experiment and come up with the goods. Well done, has a nice touch of humour and the choice of b/w was genius. Nice one.

phototext said 674 days ago:

That's meant to read.

But I think this image is one of your best...

why is it that you only notice these mistakes after posting :-)

Scott said 674 days ago:

Man, the pose is great. Are you praying? Are you straining? Are you reading graffiti?

smudo said 639 days ago:

lol;)

Is it a studio portrait? :)
