The effect is very striking in this shot, white on blue almost never fails, but is this lens blur or was it added in PS? I have nothing against PS, I'm just curious.

I'm not sure if upload size is preventing me from seeing the smaller details here... I'm not sure what I'm looking at, but I like it!

I really enjoy strong, brightly colored, and simple compositions like this. And this one's definitely relevant to the theme.

I think it would be even better if the small peice of rope wasn't there....white+yellow+blue....and only the simple shapes and blue color field. Of course had you done that, you'd prbably get comments like "I wish you had included somehting like the rope used to raise the flag" ;)

Very nice! The color contrast really enhances the effect of the selective focus, and vice-versa.

Great relevance, but it doesn't grab me. I keep focusing on the thing just below the top of the pole. It's a bit distracting at the bottom right as well, it seems so bright that it draws my attention there as well. The blue is awesome.
