Well, I guess the background is 'slightly' less sharp than the foreground subject. But I think to be truly relevant here, they are looking for 'pronounced' selective focus (i.e. major contrast between sharpness of subject and blurriness of everything else).

There are just several other aspects of this image tht jump out at me ahead of "selective focus".

I'm glad I took the time to try and provide some constructive criticism for you in addition to a rating. I guess "Nice shot" or "Wow" might have been more to your taste.

I look forward to seeing other's comments....and of course, your eloquent responses to them ;)

apologies about that... i got home at about 1.30am 'a little worse for wear' after last nights efforts and englands fantastic world cup win. i am surprised that i even managed to spell 'whatever'!!
