Nice! This type of pronounced selective focus is 100% relevant.

The background reminds me of a Cocteau Twins album cover (from "Heaven Or Las Vegas" or the "Iceblink Luck" single).

High marks for composition. Here is a shot from which I really can learn something. In the background I see the other pistons, but in the front (and in focus) is a high detail of the inside of one of the stamen. Very good stuff.

I seem to see 'noise' in the red, but that might be the JPEG compression, not sure. Lower marks for image quality. Did you resize too drastically? Think about using an Interpolation program for resizing.
