beautiful, the focus i understand is the theme but it's kinda distracting how it falls in and out of focus at the top right corner.

I really enjoy the image, but is the fly real?!? Is the DOF manipulated a great deal? If not, how did you get selective focus on two different areas when they seem to be at two different depths? If it is not manipulated by Photoshop, is it perhaps some special sort of lens or filter? I'd really enjoy hearing the backstory.

Brilliant! Never seen anything like this.

Wonderful contrast between the rainbow colors of the fly and the white flowers! I think I might like it even more with the right half cropped off, even though that reduces the selective focus effect a bit.

Beard: The fly and the flower tops are real, and no, the depth of field is not manipulated, but it was entirely accidental! This is cropped from a larger frame, so I was further away than it appears here. I was also sitting on a step above and a bit to the side. The unfocused flower tops in the middle were poking up much closer to the lens than everything else. This effect can be reproduced with a macro lens when you've got objects falling in and out of the focal plane, but as I said, in this case it was entirely accidental. The lens I used is a Vivitar 100mm macro for Nikon.

I love the detail and the colors on the fly, the light background makes the fly to stand out really well.
