While I can see the effects of depth of field (slightly), it doesn't really say selective focus to me. Selective focus should be used to draw attention to a specific point in the image, and in this image it is the color that is doing it.

It's a very interesting shot and I like it. But it is a bit busy for the theme. The color is more of the focus as opposed to the DOF.
