spectacular!

Thanks. Those are condors (~2m wide!) in the second deepest canyon in the world, in Peru. An amazing view.

Pretty cool. You're way up there, dude, and they seem to be flying right at the camera. I like this type of landscape. I guess this looks better in b/w than in color???

Nice shot. High marks, on average.

I wish there were a bit more impact and contrast but overall, very nice take on the theme.

nattfodd said 298 days ago:

@King: this is almost the color version (add a blue tint, some hints of clear brown and that's about it).

@flipthom: the original shot had almost no contrast, I pushed this as far as I could go without adding too much noise. I don't really know what caused this, but it was probably a combination of shooting full west in the morning (we arrived at 5:30am, just before sunrise, and the birds fly from 8:30 to 10 when the thermal flows are strong enough) and the hills being uniformly brownish...

Man, I wish they were closer together, this could be great. Very good subject. Image feels flat overall.

nattfodd said 297 days ago:

@Beamer: I've got shots where they are much closer (and also shots of a single condor up very close, see http://www.aperturefirst.org/index.php?showimage=196 or http://www.aperturefirst.org/index.php?showimage=176 for instance) but none with such a nice background... You've got to make compromises at some point :)

wow. Very nice shot. The background is spectacular but understated, gives a sense of grandeur to the birds...
