King, tis a manuscript I'm in the middle of repairing/rebinding. Snapped this pic to remind myself the order of the pieces, and, the sewing configuration. That's the original sewing, cut away, still attached to one of the boards.

WOW! If this is your job,you are very fortunate to have access to something so precious and valuable as a record of history like that.

I am partial to old books so I appreciate this image and find the composition quite pleasing but I am unsure of how relevant it is to the theme and there is a halo around each item that distracts me bit.

ballpeen,
I have high respect and admiration for bookbinders. There is a great bookbinding collection at the Bridwell Library of Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University. They also host a triennial juried exhibit. You might find this interesting:

book restoration?

I presume that's about your job and so is totally relevant. The image itself is hugely enjoyable, i love the juxtaposition of these colors. Very high marks!
(and a hope you didn't butcher this book just for this shot :)

Wow, one of us restores books. How cool is that? What is this you're working on?
Ana said 453 days ago:
I collect old books, but have never seen anything this wonderful! What a great job!

Very strong and metaphorical image. I like the layout and the contrast between the very organic book and the sterile background.

Wow, I don't know what to make of this. I'm really just commenting so I can see who took this, and if he or she has provided an explanation...
Flatline said 453 days ago:
Of course this would be you. It's a perfect submission.

zorilla,I like the enthusiasm with
which you said"one of us".

Thanks for the link King, nice show indeed. I know a couple of the featured binders. And thanks all for the comments. zorila, it's a 16th cent Greek manuscript, I'll have to refer back to my notes for the subject matter. It's missing one of it's boards so after much page mending it'll be resewn with a replacement board. Believe me, for the next couple weeks this thing will be an all too familiar scene from my life.
