Seeing this makes me think of a Knight getting ready for a funeral.

Hummingbird said 452 days ago:

I gave this all fives by the way, and would never have guessed this was pursang.

pursang said 452 days ago:

Anna. This is in fact a Knight from the Knights of Columbus who was participating in a funeral. You are VERY preceptive. I attended the memorial service today as I was honored when I was asked to photograph some of the ceremony and the subsequent wake. This is my very first attempt at capturing the emotions of a funeral while maintaining the dignity of the family and friends. It was very, very difficult for many reasons.

And thanks too for noticing that it's not my normal 'style' if I really have one at all. A loved one recently put me on two 'assignments' in hopes of encouraging me to expand my skills. She suggested that I temporarily move from my normal style to something different. So this is my first attempt at 'moving' a bit, albeit kicking and screaming all the way.

Thanks for commenting on my image Anna.

excellent. i wish i knew what KOFC stands for, but never the less, still highly relevant and a well composed shot.

emmat said 452 days ago:

Ah, now i know what it stands for. It does have a very dignified feel to it pursang, so well done.

winetou said 452 days ago:

nice, really nice, i love the composition and the sharpness in this picture. high marks!

mtmartini said 452 days ago:

For such a simple image it has so much impact and says so much. 25

mtmartini said 452 days ago:

Kicking and Screaming eh?

mysight said 452 days ago:

I certainly get it.
4th here also.

Haiete said 452 days ago:

Outstanding image and great composition

King said 452 days ago:

Dan? Well done, of course. The top of the glove on the right hand is kind of hot, and I guess the original is a JPEG, so not much to do about it. High marks.

King said 452 days ago:

Fooled me, too. By Dan, I meant Dan Creighton, whose metier this type of photo is, and at which he is so very good. So...a roundabout compliment.

Good work, Mark.

pursang said 452 days ago:

King, sunlight coming in over the man's right shoulder. I shot it in RAW as usual, but didn't want to adjust the area.

King said 452 days ago:

...in that case, very well done. It's not a distraction or big deal, but one would usual rather have the choice of tone in the highlights or not, thus one of the great benefits of shooting in RAW, which I rarely get to do.

pursang said 452 days ago:

I agree that having detail in the highlights is optimum. And RAW allows us 'less skilled' guys the ability to adjust mistakes made in the field. Hence my choice of shooting RAW for all of my images. Well, not my phone camera...

I never would have guessed this was your's Mark. I would say that you DO have a recognizeable style, and this is definitely outside of it. A great image, ad you did nail the exposure very well.

pursang said 451 days ago:

Thanks Jarrett. I'm especially pleased that you did not recognize it as my style, since you know my work well and have influenced it. But the highest praise is your exposure comment. For me, you *are* the standard for knowing and executing correct and accurate exposure.

Like I've said before, any guy who carries a histogram of his wife in his wallet is an exposure genius!

Hummingbird said 451 days ago:

Congratulations on this feature!

bioLarzen said 451 days ago:

Well, it's not often that what catches me with a photo is the white, but here this is the case. This white - especially with that navy blue and red - priceless...

Mark, seems like there is one thing that beats your b&w hues: your colors...

Congrats!
