I used to build and fly kites,
but never with such a dramatic backdrop.
Good vantage point for you to shoot from.

This is superb work. Those smokestacks bring the shot to a whole new level.

You've taken a bleak looking place and found some fun and freedom. I like it.

What an interesting dichotomy.

On the one hand, we have kite flying, a spring activity if there ever was one. Spring is all about rebirth, renewal, growth and beauty.

Then on the other hand, in the background we see an industrial scene with smoke belching from chimneys, clouding up the blue sky.

The best part is that the kids don't care and continue to pursue their kite flying activity.

I want to focus more on the beauty of the scene, so if it were my image, I think I would have tried to tone down that smog with a curves adjustment in photoshop. I'm not sure if the photographer wanted to make a different kind of statement with this image though.

I dont see scenes like this anymore, since I moved to Austin, from Beaumont, but I did work for Exxon Mobil for a year in Beaumont, and this is what I saw everyday of that year. Well done!!

This is a very good photo. If the crop weren't so tight top and bottom and if top of the larger person's head were not tangent with the horizon, I'd be tempted to say that this is a great photo. High marks, of course.

I really like the idea behind this shot and the scene that it shows but I am not completely sold on the composition.

I like the boys flying the kite with the industrial setting behind them.
