I understand that the red in the mountains is iron, but to consider it rust is too much of a stretch. Looks like a good vacation shot though, it must have been cool to stand there.

were those reds saturated? thats the first thing I think of when i see this..that it's so hazy and 'gray,' but that the reds seem very red. I've only see the canyon from an airplane, though.

Ana, the reds were accentuated slightly, to compensate for the haze you mentioned, but the red leeching you see is really quite striking when you are standing there. Thanks all for the comments.

To be consistent, I have to give you high marks for relevance, given the massive amount of oxidized iron in the photo of one of my favorite places. Good work.
