Somehow reminds me of a Alec Coville painting and I'm a fan of his! Too bad about the umbrella in the glass ball. Don't know if it is a reflection per se, but that maybe nit picking by me.

The study in optics is so marvelously...fitting! Why...is that a door suspended above the floor???

Hmm, that door comment has me thinking now too... Although I'd say it looks like it has a gap at the top rather than being suspended.

I like the response to this - you are all right - it is of course refraction not reflection - but how about an alternative angle - that this being a Crystal Ball - it is actually a shot about looking into the future and hence is about reflection on things to come?
