This is great--is it on a glass? I can see some reflection under the phone. Doesn't matter--it made me laugh. Great reception, I bet!
King said 707 days ago:
Yes, it's on glass. I deliberately left the reflections visible as a hint.
This is a quickie, handheld photograph. I held the piece of glass in my left hand, positioned the telephone with my right hand, while my little camera was strapped to my wrist, focused on the telephone, reframed and clicked. The AT&T tower is about 1/3 mile from my house.
George, this is natural light with no flas or reflectors. I had enough to juggle as it was. Shot with my wife's little Panasonic Lumix, all automatic, so no many choices to make that could affect the quality.
Thanks for the comments!

quite an interesting shot, when I first saw it, I have to say that it got my attention! Nice DOF too.

Not my cup of tea, but it's highly relevant (oh well) and quite ironic (I guess). Well done.

Brandon,
Please remove my inadequate photograph from the featured items--it's just a cheap trick that panders to the theme for the sake of high relevance ratings.
I must be consistent and claim, once again, that there are many superior images, languishing in anonymity, that should be featured.
Thanks, however, to all who have provided comments.

King, I think you act like a child here. If a photo is featured, it is featured. There is no "objective" criteria to judge a photo and if the right amount of people like a certain photo (according to the algorithm), it will be featured. Who says only "superior" images (whatever they are) are and must be featured?
King said 706 days ago:
Baris,
You take me too seriously, but I don't mind. What's the algorithm, and who is that man behind the green curtain?
I'm aware of your reluctance to tell anyone how to be a better photographer, yet you are one of those most likely to call a spade a spade.
I expected to kick up a little dust with my remarks, but I didn't expect you to be the one with dust in his eyes.
If I really wanted Brandon's attention, I know where to write...and enough of that name calling.

King, congrats on the feature. On another note, what's your intention when submitting images, and, more generally, participating in WS?
King said 706 days ago:
George,
Thank you.
Your question is a fair one. My intention is to submit images that are a bit ambiguous or eccentric, or have an emotional component, prompting the viewer to have to think a bit about the image.
About participating in WS, I'm a new member still finding his way and getting accustomed to the other participants and how things work. I am participating in the WS Google group effort to figure out how to make ratings more meaningful and to get more folks to contribute honest and meaningful comments, whether thumbs up or thumbs down. I value dialog and my interest in any image is enhanced when I can read and/or participate in a discussion that helps me figure out what photography is all about and why it is and has been such an important part of my life for more than 50 years.

Congrats on getting featured King.

Terrific concept. Good execution, though to me the phone could be better lit, particularly on its face. Also, image quality seems a bit low for this kind of shot. Nonetheless, for its different take on the theme I like the image a lot.
